Hello!
When starting J3T, I wondered how feasible would it be to rely solely on monthly donations of food. I asked myself, “Will the community be supportive? How long will it last?”
Two years later, I am ecstatic to report that the support has been phenomenal. Thanks to your unprecedented support, we continue to stock the pantry each month and positively impact the lives of many youth transitioning into the real world. The community’s generosity is what makes J3T a reality.
Schools, churches, synagogues, book clubs, Girl Scouts, and even mahj clubs are just some of many groups collecting food for J3T. Individuals have been requesting food for J3T in lieu of hostess or birthday gifts. Every month anonymous donors leave food at my front door or directly at Real World, too. The community’s continued support is greatly appreciated. The youth and staff at Real World Job Development say THANK YOU!
Attached is a photo of the food donated by Laura Mirth, who inspired us all when she requested food instead of gifts at her 13th birthday. Charlie Regester, a 7th grader, also inspired us with his project at St. Francis Xavier School. Charlie made handcraft items to sell at the school’s Arrupe Market, and will use the proceeds to buy food for J3T.
Please mark your calendars for an open house on Sunday, June 2nd from 11am to 1pm at Real World Job Development. I will be emailing everyone an invitation with more information.
This month’s request: peanut butter and jelly.
