“When kids are hungry, they struggle to learn. When kids don’t learn, they struggle in life.” ~Kimberly Pope and Lawrence Robinson

Over 456,000 Arizona children face food insecurity and hunger each day. Without food, these children do not do well in school, and then are not able to provide for themselves (Kimberly Pope and Lawrence Robinson, Arizona Republic, December 2014). Your food donation to J3T not only ensures that these youth know where to get their next meal, but also that they become productive members in our community.

Attached, is a young woman who asked me to take her photo standing in front of our stocked pantry at RWJD because she wants you to know how your donated food has made a difference in her life. She only needs to complete two more online classes at RWJD to earn her high school diploma. In the Fall, she will start community college through the foster care tuition waiver program and plans to become a police officer. She is truly proud of her accomplishments. She said that without you, her struggle to educate herself would have been much more difficult. Her words say it best: “I never have to worry about being hungry. I can concentrate on school and use my money to buy bus passes and pay rent.” Thank you for feeding her and making sure she isn’t part of the alarming statistic. Your donations make all the difference to these youth.

This month’s request:
