“If you want your kids to follow in your footsteps, watch where you put your feet” ~ Anonymous

Happy New Year!
To kick the year off, I want to take a moment to thank all of you for helping me grow J3T into a larger program than I could ever have imagined. During 2014, we were able to continuously feed over 170 youth. When I talk with the youth at RWJD, they emphatically tell me that they no longer struggle with food insecurity and can now focus on changing their life’s path. Because of your continuous support, they are able to be productive members of our community.

In 2014, I was especially amazed by not only all of your support, but also that you have inspired a new generation of philanthropists. Children and young adults in our community, with the support of their parents and other adults, have become actively involved in eliminating childhood hunger. While these children and young adults are learning about the importance of giving back to the community, the youth at RWJD are learning how to be productive members of that community. A few examples are highlighted below and photos are attached:

• Girl Scout Troop 1163 with profits from their yard sale bought and donated over 100 bags of food
• Children made hand drawn holiday cards to distribute over 100 gift cards that were collected in the community and donated to the youth at RWJD.
• Children requested that their guests bring food instead of birthday gifts.
• BBYO held a food drive at their Hunger Game’s premiere.
• Families shopped then donated the purchased food on one night of Chanukah instead of exchanging gifts.
• Congregation Beth Israel’s 7th grade religious class spent over $300 of their own money on a shopping trip at their local supermarket.
• Temple Emanuel students donated a different food-item each month.

Thank you for a remarkable 2014. I cannot wait to see what 2015 holds.

This month’s request:
• cans of beef or cheese ravioli
