“There is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up.” ~John Holmes (Author of “The Politics of Humanity”)

RWJD does whatever it takes to help youth who have aged out of the foster care system successfully transition into adulthood, but RWJD couldn’t help these youth without you. Your food donation ensures that transitioning youth are able to afford a night in a warm bed, never have to struggle to feed themselves, and will survive during their struggle.

The youth at RWJD take the time to write testimonials along with the thank you notes. I am passionate about filling the pantry because of their words and am certain that their words will also motivate you. Here is one letter that embodies every youth at RWJD:

“I grow up in the CPS system from the age of nine. After I turn 18 I moved out on my own in my own place and just being out of the group home it was total freedom, no rules, no one telling you what to do.
It was the live. But then the real world comes knocking at my door.
And they brought the task of having to have a job, getting a pay check and paying bills. I overspent and my landlord kicked me out.
So after being homeless for a month I came to RWJD and they set me up and put me into a paid internship (which I really loved) and the GED program.
They helped me get back on my feet. I have good days and bad days I have messed up a lot but RWJD is always there to help me
And that is a small story about my passed.”

RWJD teaches these youth to be productive, responsible members of our community. You ensure that the transitioning youth can turn their focus to important life skills – like maintaining a job, graduating from the GED program, and paying bills – because they no longer have to worry about whether or not they will be able to afford their next meal.

This month’s request:
• 2 cans of beef or cheese ravioli
• Canned fruit
• Disposable, individually wrapped silverware
