August 2013 Newsletter

Hello!
In the past few weeks, every newspaper or magazine that I have read contains an article entitled: “Back To School Checklist.” I thought about the youth at RWJD and contacted Gina Harper, the director and asked about the items on their checklist. Her first response was, “The participants of J3T already do so much. The youth and staff are forever grateful.”

After we spoke some more, she told me the youth travel on a bus to and from RWJD, homes, internships, and/or jobs. Backpacks or small duffel bags would be extremely helpful to carry their school supplies. Snack foods and drinks are also popular on bus rides.

This month’s request:

Please check around your home for any backpacks or small duffel bags that you no longer use and can donate along with this month’s food.

Snack foods (individually wrapped): granola bars, cheese or peanut butter crackers, trail mix, etc…

The staff and youth at RWJD want to thank Alex Kirshner for having J3T be the beneficiary of his Mitzvah project (a community endeavor that is an important part of his Bar Mitzvah process). Alex organized and implemented a food drive by asking the members of his baseball team to donate food. The food was placed in baskets along with flowers on the Bimah and later served as centerpieces at his Kiddush luncheon. He then delivered the food to RWJD.

As always, Thank you for your continued support!
